Now featuring select Saturdays. See schedule for available dates.
Time permitting; you will be able to spend time in the Old City Market, an open air market dating back to 1841. The market, originally a food market, sold meat, fish and fresh locally grown produce. Today, more than 100 vendors sell everything from local foods to souvenirs. The most celebrated residents are the local women who make and sell sweet-grass baskets. The craft of basket-weaving, passed down from West African slaves, is considered one of Charleston's most timeless traditions.
From the market you will board the bus for a short ride over to the Charleston Maritime Center where you will embark on the Carolina Belle, a USCG certified vessel. Your licensed captain narrates a relaxing, and insightful tour of the harbor. This tour is rated one of the best ways to discover the Holy City and view its famous Harbor!
Some of the sights you'll see include:
A deli-style box lunch is provided by local butcher and deli shop, Ted's Butcher Block during the harbor tour. Your delicious lunch includes a sandwich of turkey or ham on artisan bread, a fresh fruit cup, a fresh baked cookie, and a fountain drink. A vegetarian or gluten free option is available upon request.
The next stop on your exciting adventure is a stop at Boone Hall Plantation, one of South Carolina's many stunning plantations. Boone Hall is one of America's oldest working, living plantations that has been continuously growing and producing crops for over 320 years. You'll be able to explore the historic brick slave cabins, a smoke house, and a cotton gin. Costumed hostesses will greet you at the mansion and provide guided tours of the first floor. The butterfly garden is available for viewing antique roses, camellias and other native South Carolina plants. Don't forget to stop by the plantation gift shop for some special plantation treasures!
After you finish exploring Boone Hall, you'll board the bus for a relaxing trip back to Myrtle Beach. We hope you enjoyed your brief stay with us!
